Why I am Running for Justice of the Peace
I was encouraged by people around me to run for this office. As I prayed about and investigated the possibility, I realized that I was good fit for this position. Read more about my beliefs and experience under the following headings:

Important Dates for the Primary Runoff
April 26th – Last Day to Register to Vote for the Runoff
May 15 – Mail in Ballot Application Deadline
May 18 – In-Person Early Voting Begins
May 22 – Last Day for In-Person Early Voting
May 26 – Runoff Election Day
Duties of a Justice of the Peace:
- Serves as a trial judge in misdemeanor and traffic cases;
- Serves as a trial judge for civil claims up to $20,000 (soon to be $30,000);
- Serves as a trial judge in eviction cases, including squatter eviction cases; and
- Serves as a judge in a variety of other matters.
This is an important office for the County. A judge in these cases conducts bench and jury trials. So a strong legal background is essential.
